Great Concept : GOgroove FlexSMART 4i Car Mount System Hi-Fi FM Transmitter and Charger for Apple iPhone 4S , 4 , 3GS , 3G / iPod Touch 4th Generation and Other iPods
I bought this car mount system primarily as a "dock" for my iPhone. I was planning TWO cross-country car trips and had had some issues with simple charging cables for my iPhone, so was hoping that a more sturdy mount would keep the iPhone charging longer, hence allowing me to keep cell phone availability for the whole trip without need to stop and find a wall plug. Unfortunately, this accessory had the same issue that the cords had, the slightest bump and the iPhone became unseated enough for it to declare that the accessory didn't support charging.
All of that was AFTER I first had issues getting the accessory to even fit in my power outlet. When I first unboxed the item and attempted a straightforward "push it into the power outlet" I was amazed to find that it did not fit. I thought these things were pretty standard. When I contacted the seller they told me that the manufacturer had authorized a "fix." I should take a nail file and file down the rubber sides so that it fit in the power outlet. Amazingly, that worked ok. Not something I have ever had to do before when purchasing a car accessory, but it worked.
To be fair to the seller, they have offered to help me in any way they can (prepaid return label, credit for similarly priced item, etc.) I simply don't have the energy left after two cross-country trips across the country to deal with this. I'd buy from them again if I ever get brave enough to buy an off-brand accessory. Luckily I won't be buying any more accessories for the iPhone. I stopped by my friendly AT&T store in the middle of my trip to upgrade my phone to a more travel-friendly HTC Inspire 4G.
